A Different Sort of Foe: Mono-Tzeentch

This is the Mono-Tzeentch list I talked about in the last post.
This is the easiest mono-god list I've ever written, mostly as it falls right into my "stick anti-tank anywhere" philosophy.

2000pt list after the break.

As we don't have a whole lot of choice in each slot, it's inevitable to spam whatever unit it is. Good thing Tzeentch has some good units!

Every single unit in this army can kill a tank. Even then, it has less firepower than most Marine armies. Go figure.

Mobility is your friend in this list, careful placement of units will make or ruin you: keeping the grinders back until all the melta is dead, then rushing them in once they are silenced is key to the list. Dropping the Grinders safely is particularly challenging, so you might want to cut out some screamers to put an icon on one of the Horror squads.

5 flamers, with breath of chaos, will destroy nearly any unit in the game in one shot. But again- be careful.

And here, Ladies and Gentlemen, we illustrate one of the most glaring problems of the entire codex: Lack of choice in regards to EVERYTHING.
Overall, I suspect that an MEQ infantry army would be the hard counter to this force, Black Templars in particular.

I agree on lack of choice, but they can handle a MEQ horde. The soul grinder's triple-phelgm and, to a lesser degree, the Heralds' Daemonic Gaze is a pretty solid counter. However, a horde, like 5-tervigon, could be a serious challenge to the list.
I don't see how MEQ would have trouble winning, at least 2/3 of the time, against a list with only 15 scoring models. Taking out the horrors really isn't that hard, and once that is done, the best the daemon player can manage is a tie. At 2,000 points, only a scan't few armies can handle less than 5 troops selctions, and most really should be taking 6.
if a lack of scoring bodies is an issue, losing a soul grinder and/or some flamers can free up some points.
I suppose I play more aggressively- my opponent's target priority tends to be mixed between whatever they perceive to be the biggest threat to their army- often, it's the big, scary soul grinders.
Yeah, I just worry with that sort of aggression you leave a big target that, when exploited, will cost you the game in objective missions. Obviously your opponents tend to color your play style, so if they focus on the grinders, you are doing well, but a meltavet spam list or 3 units of long fangs won't worry about the grinders for long.

Although, if you put all 3 of the troops in your second wave, you have less time to worry about that
I concede the point. We face different opponents, and adapt to different problems. Nothing wrong with that.
I would love nothing more than for one of my regular opponents to pick up a more competitive list, but they looooove their plasma. | :(
'Course I suck at writing Imperial lists, it's difficult to convince someone to change their list if you can't write a better one.
