Acknoledgement

I'm not going to deny it, the blog is slipping into oblivion. I'm afraid it'll get worse before it gets better, but I will resume posting.

I cannot afford sixth edition for a while. Consider this an extension of hiatus. I can't say how long, certainly
less than a half year, longer than a month.

But the Astute Daemon will return.

For sure, when the starter set comes out, I will be back. I can afford a 20 dollar book, but I can't justify spending eighty dollars on something that, frankly, is no real benefit to me.

I thank the patience of you, the readers, who made this blog successful and will do so again.

Another Announcement

I'm afraid I'll have to go on hiatus again, seeing as I know nothing about 6th, and I'm running a warhammer 40k blog.
So, unless a ben franklin shows up on my doorstep, it looks like I'll be out of it for a bit. Expect 2 weeks, maybe less, unlikely-ey more.
Feel free to email me anything, but... I only know 5th, which is largely inapplicable. :\

I really hate to do this to all of you.Let me tell you, it sucks to suddenly know nothing about my favorite hobby.

Well, I'm back.

And from looking around the interwebs a bit, it doesn't look good.

So, give it to me straight, doc. How's 6th? Not just for Daemons, but in general. If it sucks... I might save my $80 and not play a game I don't like.
If the pros outweigh the cons, then ok, I'll keep at it.

But I'm really pissed that I have a hundred bucks of bloodcrushers that are terrible now.

oh, and does anyone have a pdf of the new book? I'm a pirate. I'm going to know the new rules before I buy them.

Announcement

Well, I have some bad news. I'm going to be out of town, and thus, not posting, from next saturday to friday.
That's right. I'm going to be out of town for 6th edition. Not that I could afford it, but you know. Still sucks.
Anyway, is there anything that anyone would like addressed regarding 6th, or saying goodbye to 5th?

Battle Report: Daemons VS Grey Knights

I convinced my brother (who picked up grey knights mostly to spite me) to play a 800pt battle, and decided it would be a great opportunity to do a battle report for the blog.

Here's his list

Draigo, 275

2 paladins with halberds, 110

3 paladins, one with a Daemonhammer and psycannon, one with an incinerator and halberd, and the other with a halberd. 190

5-man Purgation squad, 4 psycannons, justicar has a Daemonhammer, rhino. 220

Here's my list.

3 Chariots of Tzeentch, each with Bolt, WaL and MoS, 330

5 Crushers, instrument, 205

5 Horrors, Bolt, Changeling 100

9 bloodletters, 164

The preferred half contained a chariot, the 5 horrors and 9 bloodletters, and the other half had 2 chariots and the 5 bloodcrushers.

BAM! 6th edition video!

It's officially announced, not that we didn't know :P The video has some verrrrry nice shots of the book, pics and rules! I would advise pausing and reading them.

beats this video by a long shot.
Curiously, there is a new vehicle type called "chariot": might Daemons be FAQ'd to have their chariots be vehicles?

Anyways, other than that, I'm burned out from staying up too late, playing a 2000pt game against vanilla marines. We spent a lot of time shooting the breeze (his thundershields ended up starting a conversation about the Dark Angel's history), so it ended up taking 4 hours :P

Stupid new soul grinder almost killed his librarian in his first battle- librarian passed his 5++, and grinder got murdered by thundershields, and exploded, killing a bloodcrusher.

I really wanted to name him Witchslayer, but I guess he's more of a Betrayer. :P

anyway, did any of you see anything interesting in the video?

The Daemon's Lair- My Story

It is the Daemon's Lair, my weekly editorial. This is my story, of how I got into warhammer.

Around this week a year ago, I don't remember the exact day, I really started playing 40k. I'd been interested for a while. My friends played it, and were into the backstory. They let me borrow their Black Library novels, notably the Grey Knights Omnibus by Ben Counter.

I have since learned to loathe the Anathema's slaves.
